It’s just another night without a light
stating at the screen
forever feeling grateful
for the attention it receives.
A hundred times you’ll hear the line
like the thousand times before without it getting old.
You take a sip out of your cup. Imagine she is there.
Pretend that you’re ok.
Admit to your despair.

You hear a knock, resounding loudly
throughout the rooms and hall
you take a tentative approach
in case it’s not who you expect.

But she’s there
and everything just melts away. Once again
that face has changed
your state of mind
and before you realise
she’s taken a step inside.

“Welcome home.”

There is a feeling
It writhes
It slides
It skims
It dies

It knows
It doesn’t know
It reacts
It relates
It confounds
It escapes

It evolves
It transcends
Like a child
Like a trend
Like the moon
Like the sun
Like an ignorant fun

Once it storms
Once it rains
Once the winter claims her reign
Once the volume is too much
Once the ground slowly erupts

Once the child becomes unwhole
Once the liar loses hold
Once a record is enough
Once the thieves are in the brush

Then it fails
Then it burns
Then it tumbles
Then it turns
Then it fumbles
Through a patch
Then it’s jumbled
Then it’s flat

Once it’s flat
it’s flat for good
Once it’s gone
It’s gone for good
Once it leaves
It won’t return
Once it grieves
It grows.
It learns.
